The Essential Cuba Tour is a comprehensive small group tour of western Cuba and features all of the major highlights of this part of Cuba. The tour starts in Havana and there is a full guided tour of the old city including the Museum of the Revolution, Cathedral Square and the beautiful Plaza des Armas.
After two nights in Havana it’s about an hours’ drive to the Sierra del Rosario biosphere area at Las Terrazas and then on to the very scenic far west of the island with a tour of the spectacular Vinales Valley. Santa Clara which has close associations with the Revolution and Che Guevara is our next stop with a visit to Revolution Square and the museum dedicated to his life.
On day 5 we start our journey through the heritage towns of the south of the island with a stop in Sancti Spiritus before cutting back west through the Valley of the Sugar Mills to the World heritage town of Trinidad. One of the best preserved Spanish Colonial towns in the Americas makes Trinidad one of the highlights of any tour and there’s a walking tour of the town, some optional excursions or simple relaxation at the beach to be enjoyed during the two day stay in this part of the island.
Before returning to Havana we make a stop in the French inspired town of Cienfuegos which is built around a huge natural harbour and has an impressive colonial square in the historic centre.
Once back in Havana the tour ends literally on a high note with an evening at the Buena Vista Social Club.
