Until recently the Nacional was Havana's most luxurious hotel and although more recent hotels may have stolen that title the Nacional remains a Cuban institution and an unmistakeable landmark on the city's skyline. Located in Vedado, 10 minutes drive from Old Havana, the hotel is situated in spacious grounds that sweep down to the famous Malecon with its panoramic views out to sea. Although parts of the hotel have been refurbished and modernised, the Nacional retains much of its early grandeur when it was visited equally by statesmen, film stars and crime barons. A popular option is for clients to overnight at the Nacional before their return flight to the UK.
