Remedios is of one Cuba's little known gems, a small colonial era town which has somehow managed to avoid becoming part of every tour group's itinerary. Located about 45 minutes drive east of Santa Clara, Remedios is well worth a night or two as part of an itinerary taking in central Cuba.

Beaches

Remedios is just 20 minutes drive from the coast where there are a handful of half decent beaches. There are very few facilities and even less people so anyone seeking peace and quiet will be rewarded. Food and drink can be bought in the small nearby town of Caibarien.

Apart from the restaurants at the Barcelona & Mascotte hotels there are just a handful of palladars in town.

Getting There

Remedios can be visited by self drive hire or pre-booked private road transfer. The town is just 45 minutes drive from Santa Clara and makes an interesting detour for anyone heading to or from Trinidad or taking the main Havana - Santiago highway. It is also a great stop-over for anyone driving to the nearby islands of Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Santa Maria which are joined to the mainland at nearby Caibarien.

Hotels

Remedios currently has just the two hotels, the equally delightful Mascotte & Barcelona, both of which we can highly recommend. Please note however that the Mascotte is very popular so it is vital to book as far in advance as possible. We also feature a number of casa particulars which we can pre-book.
