This tiny island forms part of the Jardines del Rey, a string of beautiful and almost entirely undeveloped islands along Cuba's north coast. Cayo Santa Maria has some of the very best beaches in the area as well as a great selection of hotels.

The beaches on Cayo Santa Maria are some of the best in Cuba, with the majority still completely undeveloped

Excursions

Most clients end up at Cayo Santa Maria to relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches and abundant watersports on offer. However, it is also possible to drive along the causeway to the mainland and visit the colonial towns of Remedios & Santa Clara, both of which are worth a visit.

Food

There are just a handful of hotels on Cayo Santa Maria and no restaurants outside of the resorts

Getting There

There is a small airport on neighbouring Cayo Las Brujas with daily charter flights to Havana. It is also possible to drive to Cayo Santa Maria from the mainland since a giant causeway was built at Caibarien near Remedios. We can arrange private road transfers to Cayo Santa Maria from Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus, Santa Clara & Remedios. We can also arrange road transfers from Havana although, at 5hrs long, most visitors prefer to fly in. We can arrange car collection and drop off although a sizeable extra charge is levied.

Hotels

Hotel options on the island have increased markedly in recent years. The most significant development has been, in late 2010, the opening of the Melia Buenavista, Cuba's first and only small, luxury beach hotel. We also offer its more affordable sister hotels, the Melia Cayo Santa Maria & Sol Cayo Santa Maria. Luxury accommodation is also available on neighbouring Cayo Ensenachos.
