This tiny island off Cuba's north coast is home to one of Cuba's few small, beach hotels and is popular with independent travellers as well as scuba diving enthusiasts. Visitors looking for peace and quiet away from Cuba's more commercial resorts may find Cayo Levisa to be just what they are looking for while others might find the island somewhat too quiet

Beaches

The land facing side of the island is made up of mangrove swamp while the entire ocean facing side is one long, white, sandy beach.

Excursions

There's not a whole lot to do on Cayo Levisa which, for most people who visit, is a large part of its attraction. Scuba diving can be arrange locally together with snorkelling trips to the nearby reef.

Getting There

There are no roads on Cayo Levisa. A 30 minute ferry runs twice daily from Palma Rubia, a small station on the mainland. Transfers can be booked to Palma Rubia / Cayo Levisa from Havana, Soroa, Las Terrazas and Vinales. Please note that the cost of the ferry (approx £7 return) must be paid locally.
